For the past 14 years, The Pediatric Diabetes Foundation in Puerto Rico, a nonprofit organization founded in 2000, has held an educational event for children and adolescents living with diabetes and their families. This year the event will be held at the Botanical Gardens of the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras.

It is a good opportunity to strengthen the support group created at the Foundation among children and their families who live similar experiences associated with the management of their diabetes on a daily basis. Education is given to them in a fun way, reinforcing the message that exercising should be part of their lifestyle.

The event starts at 1pm and culminates at 5pm with the formation of the blue human circle. During the activity we will offer diabetes education using different modalities such as educational tables, talks and educational games for the children. A session of Laughter Therapy will be offered to parents as well as diabetes technology updates from different companies that will participate (insulin pumps and CGMs)

We expect 100 families of children with type 1 diabetes (approximately 350 to 400 people). The activity is free of charge for families of children with diabetes from all over Puerto Rico.
