World Diabetes Day Skåne 2023

Meeting/Exhibition/Fair Start Date: November 14, 2023
End Date: November 14, 2023
Location: 24, Nordenskiöldsgatan, Malmö, Skåne län, 211 19, Sweden

People of all ages with and without diabetes help researchers understand the disease better. Do you want to learn more about what happens at the research clinic? Join World Diabetes Day Skåne to learn more about what discoveries participants in scientific studies have made possible.

Participants in scientific studies help diabetes researchers to understand more about the disease. Because scientists have been able to map people that have recently been diagnosed with diabetes, they have been able to show that type 2 diabetes is a complex disease that may require individualised treatment. Analyses of blood samples from children with a high risk of developing type 1 diabetes have helped us understand why some children develop the disease whilst others do not.

Do you want to learn more about the advances that the visits to the research clinic have led to and what the researchers hope to accomplish? During World Diabetes Day Skåne, researchers present ongoing studies that aim to increase our understanding of diabetes. The goal is to develop new treatments and drugs that can prevent, delay or cure diabetes.

Companies active within the area of diabetes will exhibit their work and the Medeon stipend will be presented in connection with the event. This stipend is awarded annually to a researcher at Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC). LUDC diabetes researcher Malin Fex will be moderating the event.

The day is arranged by LUDC in collaboration with Sydvästra Skånes Diabetesförening, Medeon Science Park, och Diabetes Samverkan Sverige.

The main target audience for World Diabetes Day Skåne is people with diabetes, relatives, and patient organisations. However, anyone interested in learning more about the disease and diabetes research is welcome to attend.

Visit the event site for more information.

The event takes place on November 14 between 3 pm and 6 pm and is held in Swedish. The exhibition is open between 2 pm and 7 pm. No preregistration is required.

Organizer: Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC), Sydvästra Skånes Diabetesförening, Medeon Science Park, and Diabetes Samverkan Sverige.
