I am a social worker speaking from Bangladesh. I can say from the experience of creating awareness about diabetes among the general public for a long time, people in developing countries are still not aware of this issue. But they go for treatment only when they become physically impaired in some way.

I would also like to say, treatment is needed to save diabetic patients but awareness is needed to reduce diabetic patients. There is no substitute for awareness in diabetes prevention. The work that I am doing through the non-profit voluntary organization 'Aso Socheton Hoi Society'.
