We celebrated World Diabetes Day on 14.11.2024 in Slavonski Brod, Brod – Posavina County , Croatia in front of the management of the General Hospital "J. Benčević". The following participated: Teaching Institute of Public Health of Brod-Posavina County, School and Adolescent Medicine Service, General Hospital "J. Benčević" Department of Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Diabetology, Department of Pediatrics, Health Center, Visiting Service, Slavonski Brod-Central Pharmacy, Bauerfeind d.o.o, Association of Children with Diabetes and Their Parents "Brodski slatkiši", Brod Diabetic Association, Secondary Medical School, Secondary School "M.A. Reljković", Vocational and Technical School. We made statements to the media and conveyed the message about diabetes and achieving well-being for people with diabetes, epidemiological data in the world and in Croatia, the possibility of obtaining health care and treatment in our county and in Croatia. Our interested citizens had the opportunity to measure their blood sugar, BMI, blood pressure, assess their risk for type 2 diabetes by filling out a questionnaire, talk to doctors, nurses and medical technicians, receive appropriate leaflets on nutrition, physical activity, and complications of diabetes.
Students of the Vocational and Technical School and Secondary School "M.A. Reljković prepared healthy snacks made from dried vegetables and fruits, chickpea sticks, wholemeal bread, coconut cake, microgreens sandwich and drinks made from freshly squeezed fruit and tea, which they offered to citizens. Students from the Secondary Medical School, majoring in physiotherapy technicians, performed an exercise program with the participants.
