World Diabetes Day was celebrated in Tanjong Karang Health Clinic, Selangor, Malaysia on 23 November 2024. This event was celebrated in collaboration with Community Panels, Diabetes Malaysia, Endocrinology Unit Sungai Buloh Hospital and Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society. 474 persons participated in total, including 183 participants in the fundraising fun run for Diabetes Malaysia.
In addition to the charity fun run, there were other events like officiating the diabetic center of excellence, token appreciation for diabetic icons, small-group discussions with the endocrinologists, a healthy food cooking competition, coloring and poster drawing with a diabetic complication theme, screening for health and diabetic complications, and numerous booth exhibitions to raise awareness.
We also brightened up the clinic with blue light for a week prior to the celebration.
It is hoped that this event would raise community awareness about diabetes in general.
