Activity in community Start Date: November 24, 2024End Date: November 24, 2024
The Philippine College of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (PCEDM) Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome Advocacy Council held a diabetes and well-being program at a community under the Sacred Heart Jesuit Mission Station in Caloocan entitled "Kamalayang Kalusugan" (Health Awareness) last November 24, 2024. The thrust of the program is on fostering a nurturing community. This event featured a lay forum on diabetes and health, a Zumba exercise routine, and a simulated learning experience on meal planning of nutritious food. To maximize the participation of community members, the program incorporated "Kuwentuhang Kalusugan" (Health Talk), which comprised of small-group and plenary discussions on the health situation, enablers and barriers to achieving health, and the health-related aspirations of the community. Such an initiative underscored the value of creating safe spaces to discuss the health concerns of the community to strengthen our advocacy.
