I exercise and feel well - happy World Diabetes Day 2024!
Interactive lecture Start Date: November 14, 2024End Date: November 14, 2024
The feeling of the skin has more meaning than the sensation of pain. Many of us take thousands of steps a day and normal walking requires good posture. An intact central and peripheral nervous system to initiate and control the movement, inadequate muscle strength and bones and joints moving in full range are essential for normal locomotion. Also plantar skin receptors are sensitive to pressure and vibration. The plantar surface of the foot is described as a “sensory map” that provides the central nervous system with information on the position of the body, based on the distribution of activated receptors. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) has a detrimental effect on these function. It is essential that the annual foot examination also pays attention to the ability to walk and to the factors that affect walking.
In the lecture, we will discuss the effect of neuropathy and how these things affect our daily life and what we can do ourselves daily to prevent foot problem.
