Rajendra Hospital, in collaboration with Dr. S.K. Suresh’s Diabetes Relief Initiative, hosted a comprehensive World Diabetes Day Camp on November 14, 2024, to advance diabetes awareness and preventive healthcare in Kozhikode. The camp was organized with the theme “Diabetes and Well-being,” emphasizing a holistic approach to managing diabetes. Free screenings—including blood glucose testing, lipid profiles, urine PCR, TSH levels, and body fat estimation—were offered, ensuring essential diagnostics were accessible to all. Dieticians provided expert dietary advice, and an educational food exhibition further highlighted healthy eating for diabetes prevention and management.

A special highlight of the camp was the “Diabetes and Well-being” selfie point, which invited participants to capture and share positive health messages, spreading awareness within the community and beyond. Educational materials and exhibits addressed critical aspects of diabetes management, lifestyle changes, and disease prevention. The event drew over 300 participants, ranging from at-risk individuals and diagnosed patients to family members and caregivers, who were empowered with knowledge and resources to better manage or prevent diabetes.

This camp would not have been possible without the dedication and support of Rajendra Hospital staff, volunteers, and our valuable partnerships, including local pharmaceutical teams who contributed both time and resources. Together, we successfully reached and educated the community, instilling a proactive approach to diabetes care and well-being, and laying the groundwork for ongoing community health improvement initiatives.
