The second meeting on "Examining the Challenges and Solutions of Patient-Centered Diabetes Management in Iran" was held on November 15th, coinciding with World Diabetes Day, at the central headquarters of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

This event, focused on advocating for the rights of the diabetes community in the country and engaging in dialogue with health system decision-makers, was attended by high-ranking health system figures, including Dr. Raisi (Deputy Minister of Health), Dr. Rabei (Social Assistant to the President), Dr. Jafariyan (Senior Advisor and Deputy Minister of Health), Dr. Peykanpour (Head of Health Affairs at the Budget and Planning Organization), as well as other managers and deputies from insurance organizations.

During the meeting, the Chair of the Gabric Diabetes Association, Dr. Alireza Esteghamati, referring to the rising number of diabetes cases in the country, stated: "Diabetes ranks as the third most populous disease globally, with China and India being first and second, respectively. Iran, the 32nd largest province in the country, has a population of 20 million and is considered the most populous province in the country!"

Over 200 physicians and healthcare professionals attended the meeting, where the demands of the diabetic community were presented to the health authorities. A clip showcasing some of the problems and challenges faced by individuals with diabetes was shared with the officials during the event.

In addition, a detailed written document outlining the requests of the diabetic community in the country was provided to the attendees of the meeting. The Gabric Advocacy Committee will continue to follow up on the implementation of these requests by the health system and insurance organizations.
