Running for Esther

November 14, 2024 was a day special in its own way. Not only was it World Diabetes Day but it was a day I deliberately run for my sister who is living with diabetes. I live in Mbarara, Uganda. I have watched Esther struggle with diabetes. Yet, when she doesn’t mention it, she looks like any other woman minding her business. How she is practically on life support since she is insulin dependent.

I can’t fathom her life. But I know that every year there is a walk that she eagerly talks about.

So I run for diabetes.
I run for Esther.
