Celebrating World Diabetes Day at KIER, 17/11/2024:
Empowering Children with Type 1 Diabetes
The Karnataka Institute of Endocrinology and Research (KIER) recently organized a heart-warming event to celebrate World Diabetes Day, focusing on children living with Type 1 diabetes. This gathering aimed to create a platform for knowledge sharing, empowerment, and networking among families, enhancing the psychological well-being of the children and improving the overall quality of life for their families. The event featured a variety of engaging activities, including fun-filled team-building games, talent shows with performances in singing, mimicry, Bharatanatyam, hip-hop, and yoga, as well as sessions for knowledge and experience sharing. Families had the opportunity to meet and interact with adults who have successfully managed Type 1 diabetes since childhood. The day also included a moment to express gratitude towards donors and sponsors, followed by a healthy lunch for all participants. Around 100 children, accompanied by their families, took part in this enriching event
Key Takeaway:
With the right support from family, encouragement, and knowledge from healthcare professionals, children with Type 1 diabetes can thrive and achieve anything they set their minds to. “Together we are stronger, together we are unstoppable. ”This event at KIER exemplifies the power of community and the importance of a robust support system in helping families navigate the challenges of Type 1 diabetes. It serves as a reminder that, with unity and shared knowledge, we can empower our children to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives
