Diabetes mellitus or diabetes is a chronic disease in which fasting blood glucose (sugar) levels are continuously elevated above 6.1 mmol/L. Normal blood glucose values ​​range from 3.3-6.1 mmol/L, and after a meal rich in carbohydrates (sugars) it can rise up to 9 mmol/L. If the blood sugar values ​​are above these, the doctor may suspect diabetes. The value of glucose is detected by a simple, painless test from a drop of blood.
