The 2023 World Diabetes Day celebration for the Lagos Eko Lions Club commenced with a focused two-week online awareness campaign. All 30 club members assumed a special role in raising awareness among their social circles, utilizing their social media profiles to educate friends, family, colleagues, and the wider community.

The primary aim was to encourage everyone to ascertain their health status and learn appropriate responses. Our main involvement culminated on November 30th with a Health Fair specifically for the residents of the Brazilian Quarters in Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria.

A total of 159 residents received screenings for type 2 diabetes, and medication was administered as necessary. To effectively manage this number, we collaborated with the DOAM Foundation, a dedicated NGO that worked alongside us tirelessly to achieve our shared goal.
