Our research found high levels of insulin resistance among people with type 2 diabetes which leads to poor glucose control. To address this issue, we partnered with the health authorities in the Tshwane district, in Pretoria, South Africa to run diabetes and insulin awareness drives. Ten primary care facilities were selected across the city. During, the event we engage with communities and people with diabetes. We share health education messages about diabetes, diabetes prevention and good diabetes management including insulin. The events are also an opportunity to commemorate the 100 years of the discovery of insulin.
